In Our Hearts

Many of us have had the pleasure of having indoor rabbits as part of the family. They are delightful companions and add to the richness of our lives. How many of you have holes in your clothes from an exuberant bunny that got into your laundry basket? Or, were you involved in something or deep in thought when suddenly, you heard a munching noise, only to look down and see your favorite pair of pants being enjoyed for lunch? How about the time when you were sleeping on the couch and a furry body jumped up and sat on your face or dug on your shirt? You woke up to a pair of brown or deep ruby eyes staring at you with an impish look, or one that says, "I want a treat!"

A favorite memory may be an image of joyous binkies throughout the living room, racing at top speed in and out of the kitchen with her head flicking from side to side and looking as if there were ants in her pants. It is that obvious joie de vivre that reaches out and touches us most deeply. They make us laugh. We are sometimes frustrated by their naughtiness but we love them all the same. These are the memories that stick with us and these are the ones that are most enjoyed by others. Have fun reading through these memories and please send us stories of your most treasured moments with your little friends so that they may be enjoyed and remembered by all of our community.

  Lance

It is with great sadness that I let everyone know that little Lance, one of the 8 mini rex bunnies rescued from Frederick County Animal Control in mid-December, died late last night. He had been recently adopted during our photo day by a long-time FOR supporter and was recently bonded together with a new girlfriend. He will be greatly missed. I am grateful that Lance passed in a wonderful setting and full of love. For the short time I knew him he brought me joy.
