At Friends of Rabbits, getting
our rescued bunnies into loving homes is one of
the most rewarding experiences for our
organization. Just as every bunny is different,
so is every adopter, and we are elated when a
potentially sad fate ends in a fairy tale.
Friends of Rabbits is glad to help adopters and
adoptees on their journey to finding their soul
mate. We want to thank everyone who opens their
hearts and homes to a rescued bun. Here are just
a few of our happy tales:

|
Abigale
was rescued from Anne Arundel County
Animal Control in Millersville, MD and
reunited with her original owner in
Brooklyn, Maryland. When Abigale was
taken into rescue, she was quite ill.
When her Friends of Rabbits' fosterer
called the original owner listed on the
shelter paperwork, her former home
wanted her back. She had been left at
the shelter when her mom could
financially no longer care for her.
Since her mom's living situation had
changed considerably, she was able to
return and receive the appropriate
health care that saved her life. Abigale
is now living together with a new mini
rex friend. What a happy ending to a
potentially sad tale! |

Achilles was rescued from Prince
George's County Animal Management in
Maryland in February of 2008. He had
been confiscated by the police from the
home of a drug dealer who was planning
to eventually feed him to a snake.
Achilles was severely malnourished and
scared when he arrived at Friends of
Rabbits. After weeks of TLC he grew to
love life and people again. On 5/17/08
he was adopted by T.C. Sottek of
Gaithersburg, Maryland. Friends of
Rabbits wishes them many happy years
together. |
 |
Alabama
was rescued from Prince George’s County
Animal Management in Maryland in early
April 2009. We got no history on her
other than that she was found as a
stray. A sweet girl who loved to go into
bunny-trance-mode, she was soon the
darling of her foster home. On May 31st,
2009 she became the newest member of the
Reed Family of Alexandria, Virginia.
Thanks, Linda, for helping save another
shelter bun. |
 |
Alvis
(formerly Elvis) had been living in an
outdoor hutch in Virginia before coming
into the care of Friends of Rabbits. He
has found a new forever home with vet
tech, and FoR group member, Amy Posten
of Columbia, Maryland. He now lives
together with two new bunny mates. Thank
you, Amy, for adopting this little guy
and giving him such a great home! |
 |
Congratulations
to Oraly Spatz! She is the proud parent
of two great buns, Beano and
Vegas! Beano had been the beloved
pet of a young child who passed away.
Out of grief, the family could no longer
look at him and placed him up on
Craigslist where he sadly fell into the
hands of a hoarder. He was then
confiscated by animal control and in
danger of being euthanized when he was
rescued by Friends of Rabbits. Vegas was
turned into a Maryland shelter when her
owner didn't want to care for her any
longer. Beano and Vegas seem to be
soulmates and we are happy that this all
came to a happy end for them both. We
wish them many happy times ahead! |
 |
Bobby
came into our rescue when Montgomery
County Animal Control in Rockville,
Maryland became overcrowded with an
influx of unwanted Easter rabbits. He
was an owner surrender and survived
euthanasia due to a shelter adoption
application which fell though, buying
him a little more time and the chance to
ultimately be rescued. On August 8th,
2008 Bobby found the loving home he
always wanted, and he also fell in love
with a new bunny mate. Friends of
Rabbits wishes to thank the McCorkel
Family of Columbia, Maryland for giving
Bobby the love and stability he needed. |
 |
Bongo
and Peeps were born shortly after
their mother was rescued from a Maryland
animal control facility. They were
adopted on June 30th, 2008 and are now
living happily with the Jordan Family of
Olney, Maryland. Thank you, Laura, for
adopting from our rescue! |
 |
Brownie
was rescued from Anne Arundel County
Animal Control in Millersville, Maryland
in September of 2007. She found the love
of Anna Okonski of Lovettsville,
Virginia in February 2008. We wish them
many happy years together! |
 |
Bubba
was left at Montgomery County Animal
Control by an owner who didn't want him
any longer. He was rescued from the
shelter along with 5 others who were in
danger of being put down by the end of
the week. Bubba had that special
personality that just made you want to
love and hold him. On September 27th,
2008 he was adopted by Kathleen Kaffer
of Washington, DC. Thank you, Kathleen,
for sharing your life with this special
little guy. |
 |
Cardigan
and Zeus were adopted together on
February 23, 2008 by the Sandson/Marcucci
Family of Timonium, Maryland. Cardigan
was rescued from Anne Arundel County
Animal Control in Millersville, MD in
October 2007, and Zeus was brought into
rescue from Montgomery County Humane
Society (MD) in November 2007. Thank you
to the Sandson/Marcucci Family for
opening their home to this lovely pair! |
 |
Charlotte was taken from Prince
George's County Animal Management in
Maryland where she had been waiting to
get out to safety for several weeks. An
extremely friendly and snuggly bun, she
quickly became one of her foster mom's
favorites. On September 27th, 2008 she
was adopted to the Rogers Family of
Fairfax, Virginia. Thank you, Carole,
for checking us out online and becoming
smitten with this charming girl. |
|
Chloe
came to Friends of Rabbits on
November 29th, 2007 as a rescue from the
Arlington, Virginia shelter. In February
of 2008 she found two fantastic rabbit
dads, Steve and Mike, and is now living
with a new rabbit friend in Arlington,
Virginia. |
 |
Cinnabun was a rescue that came to
us from Prince George's County Animal
Management in Maryland. Elderly Cinnabun
was suffering from problems with her
front teeth and eye problems when we
took her in. We thought it would be
difficult finding her the right home but
we were wrong. On 4/26/08 Cinnabun met
the
Cammaroto family of Port Tobacco,
Maryland and they fell in love with her
despite her older age and teeth. While
visiting Cinnabun's foster home to fill
out the adoption
paperwork they spotted
baby Cadbury and decided to open
their homes and hearts up to one more
rescued bun. Thanks to the Cammarotos
for providing such great care for these
two rescued rabbits! |
 |
Clara
was a recent return. She had been
adopted out from our rescue in 2002 and
then brought back to us last spring
(2008) when her family moved out of the
area. On Sept. 5th, 2008 she met the
Tropps of Springfield, Virginia who were
looking for a mate to their single bun.
Thank you, Paula and Larry, for giving
this girl her permanent home. |
 |
Friends of
Rabbits was contacted by a Virginia
rescue group about taking in a bun that
had been dumped at a Pennsylvania
wildlife refuge by a breeder. He had
asked them to euthanize her since she
was of no use to him on account of her
tiny size. Cleopatra was
delivered to our rescue by a well-known
area rabbit vet and on May 1st, 2009 she
was adopted into the Kerr Family of
Portland, Connecticut. Friends of
Rabbits wishes to thank Jessi at 3
Bunnies Rabbit Rescue in East Hartford,
Connecticut for helping us with this
long distance adopter. |
 |
Clyde
was rescued from a terrible cruelty
situation where he had been left to
starve and die in someone's backyard. He
was removed by an SPCA worker and taken
in by Friends of Rabbits. After months
of rehabilitation, Clyde found the
attention of Dulce and Johan Bjoerklund
of Fairfax, Virginia. Dulce and Johan
are avid travelers, so Clyde will get to
travel the globe with his new adoptive
family. Congratulations to Dulce and
Johan on their recent marriage! |
|
Cole
was turned in to Prince George's County
Animal Control in Maryland by an owner
who didn't want to care for him any
longer. We couldn't understand why
anyone would want to part with such a
cutie, and fortunately, someone else
agreed. Within days of being listed on
Petfinder his new owner fell in love.
Friends of Rabbits wishes to thank Julia
Breakey of Arlington, Virginia for
giving Cole the love he deserves. |
|
Cornell
(a.k.a. "Stinky" or "The Stink Rabbit")
was one of a family of 8 mini rex
rabbits left at the Frederick County
Animal Control facility in Frederick,
Maryland. Friends of Rabbits was
contacted when the shelter had no room
left to keep them. They went into rescue
in December of 2008. Cornell has found a
permanent home with Christine Klingebiel
in Laurel, MD and is happily
bonded together with a new girlfriend. |
 |
Crissy
is a sweet girl born at the Montgomery
County Animal Control facility in
Rockville, Maryland. She waited for her
forever home at our rescue for almost 10
months. On March 14th, 2009 she met the
Chen Family of Springfield, Virginia.
Thank you, Jing, for adding this special
bun to your family! |
 |
Curly
came to our rescue from Howard County
Animal Control in Maryland where he had
been left with his littermates. He was a
happy little guy, curious and
inquisitive, and wanting so much to be
loved. Curly was spotted on Petfinder by
Adrienne Kim Bird and her two children
who were looking for that special furry
friend to add to their family. In April
2008 Curly was adopted and now resides
in Charlottesville, VA. |
 |
Custer
was rescued from Washington, DC Animal
Control (New York Avenue) in July of
2008. He had been abandoned outside, was
later found, and then brought to the
shelter as a stray. According to one of
the shelter's adoption coordinators,
Custer was among the first of three
bunnies ever pulled by a rabbit rescue
from this facility. The shelter was in
desperate need of assistance and had
been putting down practically every
rabbit that came in there. On August
12th, 2008, Custer met the love of his
life in Kate Queram of Tacoma Park,
Maryland. Thanks, Kate, for giving this
little guy his new start in life! |
 |
Dino
(previously Heino) was adopted to
Holly Sternberg of Annandale, Virginia
on December 25th, 2007. He is currently
bonding with a girlfriend at his new
home. Dino was rescued from Montgomery
County Animal Control and had been at
that shelter for over 4 months. Thank
you, Holly, for giving Dino his forever
home! |
 |
FiFi
was rescued just in the nick of time
from Howard County Animal Control in
Maryland. She came in danger of being
euthanized when someone dumped off
several rabbits all at once, making the
shelter run out of cage space. FiFi is
one of the spunkiest buns Friends of
Rabbits has ever rescued and she
deserved a very special family to take
her on and give her lots of love. On
August 23rd, 2008 she met the Zelloe
Family of Alexandria, Virginia and a
special bunny friend. Thanks to Jim,
Natashia, and Monika for spotting her on
the internet and opening your home to
another rabbit in need. |
 |
Gris and
Ginger were two of 8 mini rex
bunnies rescued from Frederick County
Animal Control in December of 2008. They
are now living with Chelsea Hill of
Damascus, Maryland who wants to become a
future rabbit rescuer herself. Thank
you, Chelsea and family, for giving
these two beautiful girls a second
chance!

When
Kip came to our rescue in December
2008 he was pitiful. Confiscated by
animal control from a family that had
not been keeping him properly, his face
bore all the signs of a tragic life.
Missing his nose, unable to move his
back legs from being confined in a small
space, and permanently left with a scar
on one side of his face from a predator
attack, he was desperate for someone to
love him. After weeks of rehabilitation
his sweet personality started to show
itself and he grew to love being around
people. On Easter 2009 Kip got the
greatest gift he could have ever
imagined, a wonderful home with Deborah
Carver of Charlottesville, Virginia. |

Lafawnduh was rescued from a
high-kill shelter in Maryland along with
two others. When we brought her into our
rescue she was so terrified. Preferring
to stay hidden all day, and refusing to
come out of her willow tent, we thought
she would never come around. Gradually,
she started to realize that we meant her
no harm and she began to come out and
see what was going on around her. She
even began to allow us to handle her. On
May 29th, 2008 she was adopted by Gina
Valenti of Washington, North Carolina.
Gina had had a childhood rabbit and
never forgot the immense loss she
encountered when her bunny finally
passed. She spotted Lafawnduh on
Petfinder and immediately contacted us
knowing she wanted her. Gina sent us
several photos of her beloved childhood
bunny and the resemblance to Lafawnduh
was astonishing, even having similar
coat markings. Our rescue wishes Gina
and Lafawnduh many happy years together.
This was a match made in heaven. |
 |
Lance
was one of eight mini rex bunnies who
were dumped at the Frederick County
Animal Control facility in Maryland in
December of 2007. Out of despair and
without anywhere to put them, a shelter
volunteer asked for our help. He was
adopted and bonded together with a new
girlfriend in January of 2008 to
Christine Klingebiel of Laurel, MD |
 |
Larry
was rescued together with his siblings
(Moe, Curly, and Shemp) from the Howard
County Animal Control facility in
Ellicott City, Maryland. They had been
brought to the shelter by an owner who
bred them, kept the two adult parents,
dropped off two separate litters at the
shelter, and then refused to let the
facility spay and neuter the two adult
rabbits for free. Larry was in the care
of a dedicated Friends of Rabbits'
volunteer who spent months working with
him and getting him acclimated to being
around people. In March of 2009 the
Roebucks welcomed him into their family. |
 |
Manny
was rescued from Montgomery County
Animal Control together with his brother
Zeus in October of 2007. They had been
bred in someone's backyard and dumped at
the shelter when their owner realized
had too many to take care of. Manny
found his loving home with the Merhi
Family of Boonsboro, Maryland on
February 15th, 2008. |
 |
Marshmallow was confiscated by
Prince George's County Animal Management
from a hoarder in Maryland who had been
acquiring rabbits off Craigslist. The
rabbits had been running amok in his
yard until a neighbor complained.
Marshmallow was adopted on 5/15/08 to
Steve Posten of Arlington, Virginia. She
is now enjoying life together with a new
bonded mate. |
 |
Midnight came into Prince George's
County Animal Management (MD) with 26
other rabbits confiscated from a
hoarding situation in Maryland. She was
among 8 rabbits taken in by Friends of
Rabbits. (The others went to area
rescues and also got out to safety.) On
May 23rd, 2008, Midnight became part of
the Rafferty Family of Aldie, Virginia.
She is now showered with attention and
love. Friends of Rabbits would like to
thank Karen and Jordan for falling in
love with Midnight via the internet and
driving quite a distance to bring her
back to her forever home. |
 |
Moe
was left at the Howard County Animal
Control facility in Maryland along with
his siblings (Larry, Curly, and Shemp).
He was dropped off by an owner who bred
two litters and didn't want the
responsibility of caring for the new
bunnies. On March 22nd, 2009, Moe met
the Feeneys and fell in love. Friends of
Rabbits wishes them many happy years
together! |
 |
Mom
was living under an outside shed
together with her baby, Cadbury, when
she was taken in by animal control.
Friends of Rabbits was called when the
shelter ran out of space to house them
both. Always a wonderful and loving
mother, she deserved to find the best
home possible. In July 2008 she finally
did! Friends of Rabbits wishes to thank
Polly McCarty of Columbia, Maryland for
giving Mom the security and love she can
finally depend upon. |
 |
Moonshine came into Prince George's
Animal Management in Maryland after a
group of rabbits were confiscated by
animal control from a hoarding
situation. A lively and happy bunny, it
didn't take her long to get adopted.
Within 24 hours of her listing on our
website, she caught the attention of
Dale Lloyd of Spotsylvania, Virginia.
She is now enjoying an indoor life of
luxury with a companion cat. Thank you,
Dale, for opening your heart to one more
rescued animal! |
 |
Mutt
and Jeff were a couple of cuties
rescued from the Montgomery County
Animal Control facility by a dedicated
volunteer. In February 2009 they went to
live with the Sottek Family of
Gaithersburg, Maryland. |
 |
Nacho
was rescued from Prince George's County
Animal Management in Maryland. He had
been confiscated from the home of an
arrested drug dealer who intended to
eventually feed him to a snake. When
Nacho came into Friends of Rabbits he
was terrified. After months of living in
safety and love, he grew to enjoy being
around people. On June 27, 2008 he was
adopted to Dr. Lisa Wei of Arlington,
Virginia. Dr. Wei also adopted a couple
of other cuties from us, bunny babies
Rascal and Cheddar, who were also
awaiting their forever home. Friends of
Rabbits wishes to thank Dr. Wei for
opening her heart to these three rescued
angels. |

|
Olivia
is one lucky rabbit. A rescue volunteer
was called over the summer about a
shelter rabbit with "a goopy eye." She
was given only four hours to pick her up
the same day the shelter called or the
rabbit would be euthanized. When our
volunteer arrived, she found a poor
elderly bunny, unable to use her hind
legs from confinement, and most likely
used to breed her entire life. She was
later vetted by our organization and
nothing was found to be wrong with her
eyes, other than her immobility from
being confined for so long made her
unable to clean herself properly. In her
foster home she was kept together with a
group of rabbits that helped keep her
clean. She would often try to join them
by attempting to hop up on ledges, but
the atrophy in her legs always caused
her to fall. In October 2008, Olivia met
the love of her life, a beautiful male
lop, and was brought to her forever
home. She now has ample space to move
and exercise and is completely mobile
and healthy. She looks like a completely
different rabbit. |

 |
Oreo,
Sweetheart, and Peanut are
a fun trio adopted by Josie Tyner of
Fort Belvoir, Virginia. Oreo and
Sweetheart were rescues from Howard
County Animal Control in Columbia,
Maryland. Peanut was brought into rescue
after nearly dying from flystrike. (The
picture of Peanut sleeping in his
cage was taken soon after his surgery.)
Now he is healthy and vibrant living
together with TWO girlfriends. Thank
you, Josie, for giving these three a
forever home. |
 |
Owl was brought to us from
Montgomery County Humane Society in
Rockville, Maryland where his time had
run out. He had been in foster care for
months awaiting his forever home. In
April 2008 he was adopted to Elizabeth
Brokaw of College Park, MD. In the fall,
Owl and Beth head off to graduate school
together. We wish them much success and
happiness! |
 |
Patricia was one of 13 rabbits all
rescued from the Animal Welfare League
of Arlington, Virginia by a dedicated
volunteer. On June 8th, 2008 she was
adopted to the Mathis Family of
Germantown, Maryland. She now has a
large play area and family that will
love her forever and never dump her back
at the shelter again. Friends of Rabbits
hopes that Cayla Mathis has a wonderful
11th birthday with her new friend! |
 |
Penny
was rescued from Frederick County Animal
Control (MD) in the spring of 2007. She
had been in the shelter for
approximately 5 months and stayed in
rescue for almost a year. No one could
figure out why she was passed over for
adoption so many times, but she finally
found the love of vet tech Laura Doton
of Springfield, Virginia on March 29th,
2008. Penny is in the process of bonding
together with a new lop friend. Thank
you, Laura, for providing Penny with the
forever home she has been wanting for so
long. |
 |
Pickles
and Princeton found their forever
home with Karen LoStrocco of Alexandria,
Virginia on March 15th, 2008. Pickles
had been left at Howard County Animal
Control (MD) after her owners bred two
litters and then left them all at the
shelter when they got too many.
Princeton came into Frederick County
Animal Control (MD) with a family of
eight mini rex bunnies and was brought
into our rescue when the shelter had no
room left to put the large family.
Princeton has a new mini rex boyfriend
and Pickles is waiting it out until they
can all be together in a happy trio.
Thank you, Karen, for opening your home
to two rescued buns! |
|
Precious is one of several rabbits
confiscated from a hoarding situation in
Prince George's County, Maryland. She is
now bonded with Achilles and lliving in
Gaithersburg, Maryland with T.C. Sottek.
Friends of Rabbits wishes to thank T.C.
for opening his home and heart to
another rescued bun. |
 |
Psi's
story will break your heart. He's not
supposed to be alive. One of our
volunteers promised a mother and
daughter that she would rescue Psi from
a high-kill shelter in Maryland. The
mother and daughter had seen Psi at the
shelter and were worried about him not
making it out alive, but decided to
adopt an already spayed rabbit from our
rescue on the condition that Psi got
into our rescue. The volunteer became
overwhelmed with a hoarding situation
and noticed the Psi's picture had been
removed from the shelter's website. When
she inquired about him, she was told
that he had been put to sleep the day
before along with 4 others. Out of guilt
and sadness for not getting to him soon
enough, our volunteer started having
nightmares and sleepless nights. Two
weeks later, Psi's picture showed back
up on the shelter's website. When our
volunteer inquired again about him, she
was once more told that he had been put
to sleep. Confused, she went to the
facility and there he was, safe and
sound, sitting in a cage. It turns out
that a shelter worker had switched his
card and placed him back in the wrong
cage. As a result, the wrong rabbit was
euthanized. On March 22, 2009, Psi met
Mike and Jordana of Arlington, Virginia who
immediately fell in love with him. Thank
you, Mike and Jordana, for providing Psi
with the love he finally deserves and a
second chance at life. |
 |
Ricky
was rescued from Montgomery County
Animal Control in Maryland in the spring
of 2008. He was brought to our rescue
when the shelter became overcrowded. On
December 29th, 2008 he was adopted by
the Jones Family of Baltimore Maryland.
A special thanks to Meredith for
spotting this little guy on our website
and giving him his forever home. |
|
Roscoe
was one of 8 mini rex rabbits left at
Frederick County Animal Control in
Frederick, Maryland. After the shelter
realized they had no room left to
accommodate the large family, a Friends
of Rabbits' volunteer picked them up and
placed them in rescue. Roscoe is now
adopted and happily living with the
Rippey Family in Washington, D.C. |
 |
Rufus
was rescued from Prince George's County
Animal Management (MD) after his
previous owner no longer wanted to care
for him and left him at the shelter. He
was scared and just wanted to be loved.
On May 24th, 2008 he got that wish. Not
only was he adopted by the O'Keefe
family of Clarksville, Maryland, but he
also got paired up with a cute
Netherland dwarf girl named Princess.
What more could this handsome guy want?
Friends of Rabbits wishes to thank
Cynthia O'Keefe for adopting from us. |
 |
Sam
was picked up by DC Animal Control
running loose in the parking lot of a
shopping center last summer (2008). He
was rescued from the DC shelter on New
York Avenue just in the nick of time
after two Friends of Rabbits' volunteers
got miffed at DC traffic and decided to
pull over and check the facility on
their way back to Maryland. Sam has
found the love of his life with Jennifer
Green of Queenstown, Maryland, and he
now has a new bunny mate too! Thank you,
Jennifer, for adopting from our rescue. |
 |
Shadow
was one of eight mini rex rabbits
brought into Frederick County Animal
Control in Frederick, Maryland. When the
shelter had no room for them, she was
brought into our rescue on December
26th, 2007. Shadow was adopted exactly
one month later on January 26th, 2008 to
the Pepe family of Laurel, Maryland. We
are glad she has found her loving home! |
 |
Siliva
was found running loose in Rock Creek
Park by DC Animal Control and brought to
the New York Avenue facility. Two
Friends of Rabbits' volunteers paid a
visit to the shelter and rescued her
along with two others. On February 27th,
2008 she found her permanent home with
Erika Nizborski of Washington, DC. A
special thanks goes out to Erika for
providing the love and stability this
spunky bun needs! |
 |
Skeeter
came into our rescue from Prince
George's County Animal Management (MD).
26 rabbits had been confiscated by
animal control from their previous
owner's yard and were in danger of being
euthanized if Friends of Rabbits didn't
get them out immediately. On May 24th,
2008 Skeeter found the love of teachers
Sasha Swarup and Marissa Chin of
Washington, D.C. Thank you, Sasha and
Marissa, for giving Skeeter the stable
and loving environment she can rely on
for the rest of her life. |
 |
Snuffles (formerly Bathsheba) was
one of 26 rabbits confiscated by Prince
George's County Animal Control from
their owner's yard. The rabbits were
running loose until neighbors complained
and all were brought into Prince
George's County Animal Management (MD).
Due to lack of space at the shelter all
were in danger of being put down. A
Friends of Rabbits' volunteer got the
bunnies out and brought them to area
rescues. Friends of Rabbits kept eight
and Bathsheba was one of those. On May
24th, 2008, she was adopted to Kacey
Castellon and daughter Alexandra of
Rockville, Maryland. Happy 7th Birthday,
Alexandra! |
 |
Snowball was turned in to Prince
George's County Animal Management
(Maryland) after his owner suddenly
passed away. A sweet and loving rabbit,
he was paired with another friendly guy
named Fiver after waiting almost a year
for his forever home. On April 24th,
2009 he was adopted by Barbara Henderson
and went to live in Washington County,
Maryland. |
 |
Solomon
was rescued from Prince George's County
Animal Management in Maryland. He came
there with a large group of rabbits, all
confiscated from a hoarder who acquired
them from different owners off
Craigslist. Solomon had originally come
from a breeder who intended to use him
as a show rabbit. When things didn't pan
out with his pedigree, he ended up on
Craigslist and ultimately at animal
control. Solomon has been bonded with
Skeeter and they now live in Washington,
D.C. Thank you, Sasha and Melissa, for
giving Solomon such a great home! |
 |
Squirt
was rescued in December of 2008 from
Prince George's County Animal
Management. She was picked up by PG
Animal Control after being found loose
in a parking lot. Despite being left to
fend for herself, Squirt never lost her
sweet personality. Always partial to
certain people and not others, Squirt
loved to be bunny tranced by those she
loved most. Every evening Squirt looked
forward to quiet time on her foster
father's lap after he had come home from
work. On May 2, 2009, Squirt went to
live with the Moustafa Family. Thank
you, Hoda, for bringing this sweet bun
into your family. |
 |
Stephanie was a rescued stray who
finally found her forever home with
Karen Hamrick of Washington, D.C. She
was adopted in February of 2008 after
being in rescue for nearly two years.
Stephanie is now bonded with two new
friends and living a life of luxury. |
 |
Toast
and Boris came to Friends of
Rabbits from a hoarding situation in
Maryland and ended up at Prince George's
County Animal Management about to be
euthanized. They stayed in our rescue
for over 7 months and on January 4th,
2009 they were welcomed into the Sites
Family of Greenbelt, Maryland. |
 |
Tonia
was brought into a local shelter along
with her 4 litter mates, her Mom and a
younger litter of 7. In foster care, all
13 were kept together as a group so that
they could learn the social skills for
easily living with other rabbits as
potential mates. Tonia is a loving,
outgoing and inquisitive rabbit. She was
the escape artist of the group, bright
enough to figure out that if there was
any way she could get out to explore,
she would. She had no fears of jumping
over a pen or squeezing through a small
opening. The others would follow her
lead every time. Tonia instantly took to
her new mate, a lovable little dwarf
named Peter, who had recently lost his
longtime companion. He looks like the
miniature version of her and immediately
enjoyed her attention. |
 |
Trixie
was a rescue that came to us all the way
from Florida via the Bunderground
Railroad. She had been found abandoned,
mite-infested, and starved, and if that
wasn't bad enough, her time at the
shelter was up. After several pleas via
internet rabbit chats from a

The Manzo
Family of Silver Spring, Maryland added
a new member to their family. Woolie
had been at Montgomery County Animal
Control awaiting a home for 7 months
until he came to our rescue. He survived
being euthanized twice while at the
shelter due to two adoption applications
that fell through. Woolie is now in a
loving home with lots of room to romp
and play. Friends of Rabbits thanks the
Manzos for falling in love with him and
providing a stable environment for
Woolie to thrive. |
